Hearing Noises in Your Attic or Vents in Adel? Birds and Bats Are Common Causes

If you’re hearing chirping, scratching, or movement in your ceiling, walls, or vents, it’s often caused by birds or bats getting into the home.

This is one of the most common issues we see in Adel and surrounding areas—especially as seasons change and animals look for protected places to nest or roost.

Most homeowners aren’t sure what they’re hearing at first—but the noise is usually the first sign something is already inside.

Hearing Noise at Night? It Could Be Bats

Bats are most active after sunset, which is when many homeowners begin noticing:

  • Light scratching or movement in the attic
  • Fluttering or shifting sounds in walls or ceilings
  • Activity around the roofline at dusk

Bats often enter through small gaps along rooflines, soffits, and vents that are difficult to see from the ground.

Because these entry points are hard to access, the problem usually continues until the source is properly identified and sealed.

We safely exclude bats from the home and seal entry points to prevent them from returning.

Process:

  • Inspection & Quote

  • One-way exclusion

  • Seal gaps

  • Cleanup if necessary

Hearing Chirping or Scratching in Your Vent?

If you’re hearing noise during the day—especially in the morning—it’s often birds nesting inside a vent.

Most homeowners in Adel notice:

  • Chirping early in the morning
  • Scratching in the ceiling or wall
  • Noise near bathroom, dryer, or fireplace vents

After hearing the noise, many people check outside and find:

  • Birds going in and out of a vent
  • Droppings on siding below the vent
  • Nesting material around the opening

👉 That’s where they’re getting in.

These vents are usually 15–30 feet off the ground, making them difficult to safely access.

By the time the noise is noticeable, a nest is often already built up inside the vent.

SOLUTION

We take care of the full process:

  • Remove the nest safely
  • Clean out the vent
  • Install a secure cover to prevent it from happening again

Birds most commonly nest in:

  • Bathroom vents
  • Dryer vents
  • Gas fireplace exhaust vents

If You’re Hearing Noise, It’s Already Started

Whether it’s birds in a vent or bats in the attic, these problems don’t usually go away on their own.

The longer it’s left, the more buildup or activity can occur.

If you’re hearing something in your home, it’s worth getting it checked before it turns into a larger issue.
